Present Continuous (I am doing) - Şimdiki Zaman

• "Yapıyorum" biçiminde ifade edebileceğimiz bu yapının Türkçedeki karşılığı "Şimdiki Zaman" dır.

Structure of Tense (Cümle Yapısı)

am /is /are + ing : Present continuous

Usage  (Kullanılışı)

1) Use the present continuous ( also called present progressive tense)  for  incomplete action which is in progress at the time of speaking; usually with time expressions such as: now, right now ,at the moment

For example, John is in car and he is driving to work. This means that he is driving now, at the moment of speaking. Driving is not finished.

Konuşma esnasında bitmemiş ve devam eden eylemler için kullanılır.Yukarıdaki verilen örmekte anlatılmak istenen, konuşma esnasında, John şuan araba kullanıyor ve sürme eylemi henüz bitmedi, devam ediyor.

2) I am doing something = I am in the middle of doing something. This means that you have started doing it and you haven't finished yet

Present Continuous yapısı be (am/is/are) doing something şeklinde olup bir işi yaparken o işin ortasındayım manasına gelir. Yani işe daha önceden başladınız ve iş henüz bitmedi.

• Please don't make noise. I am studying ( Not  ' I work ' ) Lütfen gürültü yapmayınız.Çalışıyorum
• Where is John ? He is having a breakfast (NO he has breakfast) John nerede ? O şimdi kahvaltı yapıyor
• Shall we go out now ? No, it is raining outside Dışarı çıkalam mı ? Hayır dışarda yağmur yağıyor
• Are you available ? No I am speaking to someone on the phone (Müsait misin ? Hayır şuan telefonda birisiyle görüşüyorum)

3) Your are in the meeting. Your manager is asking you about how the project is going. You say: I am working on it.

 This means that you are not working at the time of speking (in the meeting). You have started it but not finished it yet. You are in the middle of working it.

Mesela, Müdürünüz  toplantı esnasında size daha önce verilen bir projenin durumunu soruyor. Siz ise "üzerinde çalışıyorum" diyorsunuz. Evet şuan, yani toplantıda esnasında tabiiki  üzerinde çalışmıyorsunuz  ama burda söylenmek istenen: Çalışmaya başlamışsınız ama projeniz henüz bitmedi. Çünkü hala üzerinde çalışıyorsunuz (çalışmanın ortasındasınız)

• I want to go England, so I am learning English   (İngiltereye gitmek istiyorum,bu yüzden İngilizce öğreniyorum)   Elbette bu konuşmayı yaparken İngilizce öğrenmiyor.
• My family is planning to take a vacation on summer. They hope it will finished the plan before next week. Ailem tatile çıkma planı yapıyor. Gelecek hafta olmadan planı bitirmeyi umuyorlar.  Bunu söylediği anda ailesi elbette tatil planı yapmıyor. Bu aralar plan yapıyorlar

4) Use the present continuous when you talk about things future plans in the near future. Usually with time expression (such as: today, this evening, this weeketc.)

Şimdiki zamanı (Present Continuous) bu aralar, mesela  bugün / bu akşam  / bu hafta  gibi yakın zamanda gerçekleşen olayları anlatırkende kullanılır.

• We are leaving Turkey next week  Haftaya Türkiyeden ayrıacağız.Planlanmış
• Are you working this week ? No, I am on holiday (Bu hafta çalışıyor musun ? Yok, tatildeyim) planlanmış
• He's flying to Paris on today bugün Parise uçuyor planlanmış

5) Use the present continuous when we talk about the changes (Tendenies and Trends) that happening around now.

Şimdiki zamanı, bu aralar meydana gelen değişiklikleri ifade etmek için kullanılır.

• The number of people in the world is rising fastly. (Not rises) Dünyadaki insan sayısı hızlıca artıyor   tendency
• Is your brother getting better ? (Not, does your brother get better) Kardeşin iyileşiyor mu (hastalıktan) tendency
• Consuming organic food is becoming important organik gıda tüketimi önem kazanıyor trend

6) Use the present continuous Temporary or Longer actions

Kısa ya da uzun süreli yapılan işlerde kullanılır 

• Temporary action: I am working at a restaurant in summer (I am working there only during the summer holidays)

Yazları retoranda çalışması kısa süreli bir iştir.

• Longer actions: I am studying very hard to learn english ( this action is time-consuming)

İngilizce öğrenmek zaman isteyen bir iştir.
